***Important Policy Information***

Cruise Restart Policies as of 10 June 2021

  • Queen Elizabeth from Southampton - (Available to book now for UK RESIDENTS ONLY) - First sailing July 2021

Will I need to be vaccinated?

Covid-19 vaccine requirements and proof required for UK voyages on board Queen Elizabeth.

Cunard are delighted to be sailing again this summer. Here's some important information regarding their Covid-19 vaccine policy and the proof required for guests to board.

Vaccine requirements.

Given the advanced progress of the UK vaccination programme, and strong expressed preference on the part of their guests for the limited series of UK coastal cruises, their 2021 Summer at Sea voyages are for UK resident Covid-19 vaccinated guests only. For these cruises the definition of “vaccinated” is a minimum of seven days following the second dose of the currently approved Covid-19 vaccines being administered or 14 days following the recently approved single-dose Janssen Covid-19 vaccine being administered.

Proof of vaccination.

Guests will be required to show proof of their vaccination status at the terminal prior to boarding. This can be either in digital or printed format and must be an official certificate of vaccine status issued by their local health authority (e.g. NHS England). They are advising guests to visit their relevant NHS or local health authority website for full details of how to obtain an official record of their vaccine status in advance of their holiday (please note that some authorities require up to 10 days to process applications to receive postal certificates). Guests in England and Wales can download the NHS app, register with their NHS number and photo ID and gain access to 'share your Covid-19 status' - this creates a unique QR code and certificate which proves their vaccine record. Please note that the record card that is given out at the time of vaccination will not be accepted as proof of vaccination status.

Unfortunately failure to provide proof of vaccination at the terminal will result in denial of boarding at your customer's own expense.

All other Cunard holidays on sale do not currently require guests to be vaccinated (all voyages departing on Queen Elizabeth on or after 02 October, departing on Queen Mary 2 on or after 13 November and departing on Queen Victoria on or after 28 August).

Will I need to wear a mask onboard?

Customers are advised that mandatory wearing of face masks with no exceptions will be required at the terminal, during shore experiences and at all times when indoors on board, except when having their identity checked at the gangway or while: eating and drinking; inside their stateroom or suite; using recreational water facilities; exercising in the gym and during certain treatments or services, such as facials. Face masks do not need to be worn outdoors except when social distancing cannot be maintained.

Pre-embarkation COVID-19 tests

All guests will be given a pre-embarkation Covid-19 test at the cruise terminal. A pre-embarkation lateral flow COVID-19 test will be required at the terminal and will be complimentary in the price of customer’s holiday.

Before You Book - Flexible Booking Policy

Book With Confidence
Complimentary flexible transfers.

For added peace of mind it helps to have flexibility. With Cunard's Flexible Transfer Policy, you can transfer your booking, free of charge and as many times as you like, up to 30 days before your holiday departs for voyages sailing on or before 01 October 2021. For voyages sailing after 01 October 2021, please call our sales team for more details.

In this uncertain environment, Cunard understand that you may appreciate some added flexibility. To that end, they’ve updated their transfer policy.

This means prior to the balance due date on your booking, you can now:

This policy modifies the transfer policy in their Booking Conditions. This policy may be changed or withdrawn at any time without notice.

Future Cruise Credit (FCC) terms and conditions.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, many guests have accepted FCCs in relation to cancelled voyages. FCCs can be used any time until 31 December 2021 and can be redeemed against any new booking on a Cunard voyage on sale in that period. FCCs can be used on all fare types of Cunard cruise vacation, subject to availability at the time of booking. Where the cost of the new voyage is more than the FCC, guests can simply pay the difference between the value of the FCC and the deposit or balance payment (if within 120 days, or 30 days for voyages departing on or before 01 October 2021).

Guests may use their FCC for a second stateroom to bring friends or family with them or to upgrade their existing booking. Should guests wish to do this they should contact their Travel Advisor or Cunard, if they have booked direct.

All new bookings using FCCs will be subject to Cunard Booking Conditions, including their standard cancellation terms. Once an FCC has been applied to a new booking, in the event of a cancellation of a voyage by the guest, any refund will be given in FCC. If your voyage is cancelled by Cunard due to Covid-19, you will be offered the same options as all other guests are offered at that time in respect of original monies paid.

Paused Sailings as of 06 September 2021

Cunard have made the decision to cancel the 2022 World Voyages on both Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria.

After completing her series of UK Staycation holidays in October, Queen Elizabeth was scheduled to return to Australia for a prolonged series of voyages. However the forecasts for the lifting of restrictions in Australia mean this will not be feasible. Therefore Cunard have made the decision to cancel all sailings on Queen Elizabeth between 18 October 2021 and 9 March 2022.

Due to the practicalities involved in returning the full Cunard fleet to service this year, Cunard have taken the decision to cancel Queen Victoria’s current scheduled 2021 voyages. Queen Victoria will remain out of service until late April 2022. However with her sister ship Queen Elizabeth resuming sailing from July 2021 for her UK Summer at Sea programme, they can confirm that after this she will now adopt a number of Queen Victoria’s itineraries.

  • Queen Elizabeth's Australian season, sailings from 18 October 2021 up to and including 09 March 2022 are cancelled.
  • Queen Victoria's 2022 Round World Voyage and the preceding voyage - sailings from 10 September 2021 up to and including 29 April 2022 (V122 to V210) are cancelled * apart from (V126,V128,V129, V130, V201)
  • Queen Elizabeth will now be operating five of Queen Victoria’s voyages: 01 November for 14 nights, then from 27 November 2021 up to and including 23 December 2021. Guests originally on the affected Queen Victoria voyages will be transferred to the equivalent sailings on Queen Elizabeth.
  • Queen Mary 2's 2022 World Voyage sailings from 3 January 2022 up to and including 4 April 2022 are cancelled. Guests booked on the cancelled 2022 Full Round World Voyages will be offered the best available stateroom match on their 2023 Centenary Round World Voyages.

Cunard have made the following changes to Queen Mary 2' return to sail. They have made the following changes to Queen Mary 2's published itineraries and voyages:

  • Sailings departing from 14 November 2021 up to and including 10 December 2021 (voyage numbers M139D, M139E, M139F, M140, M140A, M141, M141A and M142) will be cancelled.
  • Sailing to New York due to depart on 15 December (voyage number M143) will now depart on 13 December. The voyage will be extended by two nights at no additional cost to your customers. Guests will now have an extended time in New York, with the ship arriving on 20 December, staying berthed overnight on 20 and 21 December, with disembarkation on 22 December as planned.
  • Sailings from Southampton to the Caribbean via New York departing on 15 December (voyage numbers M143A and M143B) will now depart on 13 December. The voyage will be extended by two nights at no additional cost to your customers. Following these two additional nights in New York, the itinerary will continue as scheduled, departing for the Caribbean on 22 December.

Health and Safety Protocols

As Cunard prepare to return to sea, they're combining over 180 years’ experience with the expertise of foremost accredited scientists, medical professionals and government advisors to deliver the signature Cunard holiday you expect.

They've developed enhanced health and well-being measures to protect everyone on board, which all guests and crew will be required to follow.

For a long time they have had in place many of the protocols now being observed by other social gathering venues on their ships, such as hand-sanitising stations and rigorous cleaning procedures. They've also gone beyond those protocols by asking guests to complete a Health Declaration form and having a comprehensive medical facility on board each ship providing 24/7 medical care and treatment; this will, of course, continue across the fleet.

Working with Bureau Veritas.

Bureau Veritas is a world-leading provider in marine and offshore testing, inspection and certification. To ensure the highest level of independent and specialist expertise on all health and hygiene standards, Bureau Veritas has partnered with the Cleveland Clinic, which is recognised as the leader in this field.

Cunard is working with Bureau Veritas to conduct a comprehensive review and test of their operations before they resume sailing. This will ensure they are fully compliant with the UK government, UK Chamber of Shipping and other recognised and relevant standards, as required, to protect the health and well-being of their crew, guests, and the communities they visit.

Guest and crew well-being.

They are committed to delivering the highest standards of health, safety and well-being for guests, crew and the wider communities they visit. To achieve this:

  • Every area of the ship will be rigorously and regularly cleaned and sanitised
  • They’ll provide additional hand-sanitising stations
  • They have enhanced our on board ventilation systems to provide improved filtration and increased fresh air on board
  • They’ll adhere to approved, up-to-date guidance for every aspect of the holiday experience, including the mandatory use of face masks and social distancing, which will be in place in certain areas
  • They will be operating initially with a reduced occupancy on our ships to support our new protocols
  • Crew will undergo a strict testing and quarantine regime as well as regular testing during their time on board
  • They have plans in place, tailored for each ship, to manage medical needs, including dedicated stateroom capacity for isolation, should this be required.

Pre-existing medical conditions - All voyages.

It is understood that those with certain pre-existing medical requirements or of a certain age may experience more severe symptoms should they contract Covid-19 (coronavirus). Cunard strongly recommend that guests review the UK Government guidance prior to making travel arrangements.

If you have any existing medical requirements, Cunard advise you to discuss your travel plans with your doctor. Cunard have put together a simple health advisory letter that you can provide to your GP so they can verify if you’re safe to travel.

All Cunard's ships have medical centres on board staffed by experienced doctors and nurses available 24/7, to help support your health needs. They are following all latest guidance to evolve their enhanced protocols to protect the health and well-being of guests, crew and the communities they visit once they begin sailing again.

Unfortunately they are unable to accept guests who have the following medical requirements:

  • Supplementary oxygen (including via oxygen concentrator)
  • Mechanical ventilatory support (except for overnight CPAP for sleep apnoea)
  • Dialysis
  • Within the 14 days prior to the cruise:
  • Have been unwell with confirmed or suspected Covid-19
  • Have been in close contact with someone with confirmed or suspected Covid-19
  • Have been advised to self-isolate under a government test and trace system.

Cunard are sorry to have to make this change, but they need to follow new industry procedures for the protection of everyone on board. Any guests impacted by the requirements for supplementary oxygen, mechanical ventilatory support or dialysis will be given a full refund of monies paid to date for their bookings.

Updated 20 May 2021

Your Cunard Experience

While they’ve introduced some new protocols to protect your well-being, rest assured you’ll still be able to enjoy a wonderful Cunard holiday. You’ll still be free to do as much or as little as you please each day, just as you’d expect. Their entertainment venues, restaurants, and bars will be open, and they’ve even introduced advanced booking and virtual queues to give you more flexibility over when and where you eat. You’ll find all the usual activities to get involved in, from fitness classes to Gala events. Each evening also offers a unique line-up of entertainment to choose from, from live bands to award-winning theatre fresh from the West End stage and an incredible array of expert guest speakers.

Before you board.

To make check-in at the terminal as easy as possible, they’ll now ask you to complete a few things at home, before the day of your departure. As your holiday gets closer, they’ll provide pre-voyage information about mitigating the risk of Covid-19 and will ask you to complete a Health Declaration questionnaire. Please read this pre-voyage information carefully as it will explain what to expect when you arrive at the terminal, your time on board, any country-specific requirements to be aware of, and protocols you need to adhere to while travelling with us.

If you are travelling with friends and family, please let Cunard know at the time of booking so that they can link your parties to form one travelling group up to a maximum number allowed by UK government guidelines at the time of sailing.

Boarding your ship.

Before your holiday can begin, they’ve enhanced their boarding procedures, working with their partners in the ports. In the cruise terminal you will be required to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing, in accordance with all current guidelines.

All guests and crew boarding their ships will undergo health screening. If you test positive for the virus, you will be denied boarding. You’ll receive an FCC to the value of the cruise and we will automatically refund any pre-voyage purchases made through My Cunard*.

Cleanliness and care.

Cunard have always taken pride in the cleanliness of their ships. Their enhanced measures will raise these standards even higher, ensuring all areas are inspected and cleaned even more regularly, with products proven to be effective against Covid-19. Added hand sanitiser and hand-washing stations will also be available for your comfort and well-being.

All Cunard ships are already fitted with HEPA air filtration in appropriate areas. Ahead of their sailing restart they will be further enhancing existing filtration, further maximising fresh air circulation and also fitting ultraviolet light disinfection across all their ships. These ship-wide upgrades to on-board air systems are based on the latest indoor air quality guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

For added peace of mind, they will be initially operating with a reduced occupancy on their ships to ensure they’re able to adhere to the latest social distancing guidelines. Social distancing will be in place in all public areas and lifts will have limited capacity, though still available to those who need to use them.

Mandatory wearing of face masks with no exceptions will be required at the terminal, during shore experiences and at all times when indoors on board, except when having your identity checked at the gangway or while eating and drinking, inside your stateroom, using recreational water facilities, exercising in the gym and during certain treatments or services, such as facials. Face masks do not need to be worn outdoors except when social distancing cannot be maintained.

In addition to their enhanced measures, they’re making the on-board test and trace process effortless using the new and innovative OceanOrbitTM contact monitoring solution. The device will be given to you at the terminal before you board and you simply keep it on you throughout your holiday. With their new protocols in place, they hope it’s very unlikely that a guest or crew member becomes unwell with Covid-19 but in an abundance of caution, they're putting every step in place to protect the health and well-being of all on board. Like at home, they need to partake in test and trace but instead of checking in with an app at every venue, with OceanOrbitTM it’s done for you. The device doesn’t track your location, and is not used to store or share personal information. If needed though, they’ll be able to immediately review close contact history of a guest or crew member and prevent any further contact, leaving you free to focus on the important things during your holiday – like whether you’re more in the mood for a blissful hot stone massage, a cocktail or two at the bar or a thrilling evening at the theatre.

Restaurants and bars.

Dining on board one of the Queens will always be part of what makes a voyage with Cunard so special. All of their restaurants and bars will be open for you to enjoy on board. All restaurants - including the Lido buffet - will feature table service, and they may change the dining options available in some venues as part of our enhanced well-being measures. But, rest assured you'll have the opportunity to dress up and dine in style, or relax in more casual surroundings - the choice continues to be yours.

Entertainment.

All of their entertainment venues will be open throughout your holiday and we’ll continue to offer a comprehensive programme of music, theatre and guest speakers on each voyage. While most performances will be accepting walk-ins, those that require pre-booking will be clearly indicated in your daily programme, and we’ll have plenty of show times to ensure you don’t miss out.

To protect the well-being of everyone on board, performances will be adapted so that artistes and audience adhere to the latest guidance.

Activities and leisure.

Leisure and retail areas such as the spa, salon, gym, pools, casino, shops, lounges and children’s clubs will be operating. From a soothing spa treatment or a yoga class, a browse in the boutiques or a blackjack hand in the casino, it’s all waiting for you. They’ll have some new measures in place to minimise contact, reduce the number of guests in each area, and maintain the highest levels of cleanliness – much like you’re used to ashore.

Your suite or stateroom.

Your stateroom steward, or butler if you’re staying in their Queens Grill suites, will maintain your accommodation to their enhanced housekeeping standards throughout your stay. To ensure social distancing, Cunard will kindly ask that you are not in your accommodation whilst cleaning is taking place.

To enhance our stateroom experience even further, we’ll be introducing an extended complimentary room service menu for you to enjoy.

In port.

You can still go ashore to explore, relax and roam in the ports they visit, knowing every measure has been taken to protect your health and well-being. For the time being, you will only be able to go ashore with Cunard's new range of organised and vetted shore experiences.

Port transfer and organised shore experience operators will be subject to new policies and procedures to reflect the latest approved guidance in line with Cunard's on board protocols.

Post-voyage - Test and Trace.

All guests will need to adhere to UK regulations after disembarking their ship, including completion of a guest locator form to adhere to the UK government’s Test and Trace initiative. Local country initiatives may also apply at the time of sailing.
